Lakoona Beach by ADËLON Capital, A Crystal Lagoons Project, Gets Land Sale Nod from MLB Airport Authority
(Melbourne, FL) The Board of Directors of the Melbourne Orlando International Airport voted unanimously today to proceed with the sale of 56 acres of land for the proposed Lakoona Beach, powered by Crystal Lagoons.
This unique, multi-use development project will offer Class A residential housing units, retail, restaurants, and entertainment venues that will surround the signature Crystal Lagoons and its pristine beaches and family water play area. The Lagoon will be both open to public access and offered as an amenity for residents of Lakoona Beach.
“We are honored to have the opportunity to bring this project to Melbourne, to work with the community in thinking outside of the box, and to come up with creative solutions to improve the area’s current housing crunch,” said ADËLON Capital’s Co-Chairman Jonathan Cohen. “Lakoona Beach will an amazing project and it will be a place for families to enjoy their time, and we are very excited to get started.”
This is a first-of-its-kind development for the Melbourne area and is intended to provide a fun and upscale housing experience for Melbourne’s growing work force as well as retail and entertainment options for residents and travelers alike.
The land parcel is located between NASA and Hibiscus Boulevards on the south side of the airport terminal. According to airport officials, the land is not currently in use and has no other interested buyers. The Lakoona Beach project will not be developer ADËLON Worldshapers Capital’s first Melbourne airport project as it is close to completing construction of the nearby Hyatt Place Hotel.
The Crystal Lagoons technology offers a unique, patented, sustainable and eco-friendly process to keep the lagoon a beautiful blue year-round. There are many environmental advantages to the Crystal Lagoons technology, including its use of up to 100 times fewer chemicals and only two percent of the energy compared to conventional swimming pools. It will use a fraction of the water of a typical golf course or even a natural park of the same size. Rainwater is captured and used to offset evaporation. The water will be treated in a closed system and is not released into the environment.
Economic, environmental, and traffic impact studies for the project will be forthcoming. The Melbourne City Council and the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) will need to provide final approval before construction can begin.
There are approximately twenty Crystal Lagoons projects in some phase of analysis, design, or construction in Florida, but this will be the first for ADËLON Capital. ADËLON Capital currently holds six projects in Florida that are under operation, and seven others that are in the development or analysis phase, including upcoming Crystal Lagoons projects in Florida
